70. Exploring the World Of Sensual Eroticism As Inspired By Couple’s Psychotherapist Esther Perel

In this episode of the Women’s Vibrancy Code, Maraya talks about her recent deep dive into Esther Perel’s work and life story. Esther is a couples’ psychotherapist who grew up in Belgium with parents who survived Nazi Germany concentration camps. She is fluent in nine languages and is known for her bestselling books, TED talks, and work around the erotic.

Maraya explains how she likes to binge on a specific person’s interviews on different podcasts and offers a clip from a podcast episode called “Good Insight with Dr. Becky” where Esther talks about the difficulties of transitioning from a caregiver to an erotic being. Esther explains that women’s arousal is often about focusing on themselves and what happens to them, while men’s arousal is often about seeing their partner turned on. She also talks about how our turn-ons are often in our brain and can come from feeling heard, seen, loved, and cared for. Lastly Maraya  reflects on how Esther’s work applies to her own household dynamic and the importance of setting boundaries and space to prioritize one’s own needs.
